At the 2026 electronica China, WeEn Semiconductors (hereinafter referred to as "WeEn" or "the Company") made a collective debut with five major product lines—Silicon Carbide (SiC), Thyristor, Power Diode, Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT), and Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET)—under the theme of "Empowering with Power, Building a Low-Carbon Future Together," covering four core tracks: Consumer Electronics, Industrial Control, Automotive Electronics, and Renewable Energy.

The name "WeEn Semiconductors" was once part of the product line list of NXP (NXP Semiconductors). In 1969, it originated as a business unit under Philips Semiconductors; in 2006, it was established as the independent Bipolar product line of NXP; in 2015, Beijing Jianguang Capital and NXP formed a joint venture to create WeEn Semiconductors. Following this, NXP gradually exited and completed the full equity transfer by 2019. From Philips to NXP, and ultimately to independent operation, WeEn has leveraged over half a century of technological accumulation to secure an identity entirely its own.
Since becoming independently operated, WeEn has delivered impressive results. Over the ten years up to 2025, the company's cumulative sales of thyristors and diodes exceeded 1 billion USD; cumulative sales of SiC products surpassed 100 million USD; and IGBT and MOSFET products have continued to scale up, demonstrating equally remarkable growth rates.
"Five Horizontal and Four Vertical" Strategy: From a Leader in Consumer Components to a Rapid Breakthrough in SiC
WeEn's core strategy is summarized as the "Five Horizontal and Four Vertical" layout. Horizontally, it covers five major categories of power devices: SiC, thyristors, power diodes, IGBTs, and silicon-based MOSFETs. Vertically, it deeply cultivates four major application tracks: Consumer Electronics, Industrial Control, Automotive Electronics, and Renewable Energy.
This matrix was not built in a day; rather, it is the result of gradual expansion starting from the single product of thyristors.
Thyristors are WeEn's "founding product." Inheriting the genes of Philips Semiconductors for home appliances, WeEn has deeply cultivated the consumer-grade thyristor sector for decades, securing the first place in global market share since 2024.
An intuitive figure: out of every four washing machines globally, at least one is equipped with WeEn's thyristor solution. In the coffee machine track, WeEn has captured over 30% of the market share as the largest supplier for top brands such as De'Longhi and Keurig.
Meanwhile, the volume ramp-up of the SiC business has already become a robust second engine for WeEn Semiconductors' advanced growth.
In 2024, WeEn's SiC product sales reached approximately 50 million RMB; in 2025, this figure surged to 120 million RMB; and in 2026, it is expected to maintain a high growth momentum. The growth engines stem from three major tracks: PV energy storage, charging piles, and AI server power supplies, with PV energy storage and charging piles contributing the largest incremental growth.
Yin Chenfeng, Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing at WeEn Semiconductors, stated directly in an interview: "SiC offers significantly higher performance than silicon-based devices in high-frequency and high-voltage applications. As the cost difference continues to narrow, it is imperative that it replaces a large proportion of silicon-based products."
Behind this statement lies WeEn's long-term judgment on the SiC track: it is not a short-term trend, but a generational shift in materials.
However, WeEn has not rushed to build its own SiC wafer fab. Yin Chenfeng explained, "The processes and equipment related to SiC technology are iterating rapidly, and investing later provides a latecomer advantage. Currently, WeEn's SiC chips still primarily rely on cooperation with foundries, concentrating resources on chip design and packaging to rapidly capture market share through an asset-light approach."
Beijing Wafer Fab Commences Production, Targeting the High-Voltage Market from 1600V to 3000V
At the end of 2025, WeEn Semiconductors' 6-inch automotive-grade power semiconductor wafer fab, located in the Third-Generation Semiconductor Industrial Park in Zhongguancun (Shunyi), Beijing, passed the completion acceptance inspection. It will enter the mass production ramp-up phase in 2026 and is expected to officially commence production in the second half of the year.
The new fab involves a total investment of 926 million RMB, with a total construction area of approximately 30,000 square meters. Upon reaching full capacity in the first phase, it will form an annual production capacity of 250,000 pieces of 6-inch wafers, gradually achieving full-load operation within three years. The product positioning is clear: high-voltage and high-power diode chips, targeting the high-voltage device market from 1600V to 3000V. It primarily serves high-growth tracks such as PV energy storage, AI server power supplies, and NEV (New Energy Vehicle) onboard charging, effectively alleviating the supply bottleneck of high-end power semiconductors in automotive-grade and industrial-grade applications.

In 2023, WeEn established a self-owned packaging plant in Jinshan, Shanghai, to refine the layout of the entire IDM industry chain. It is capable of not only producing TO through-hole discrete devices but also possesses module packaging capabilities, marking a leap from the "discrete component era" to the "module era." Module products and large packages with high technical barriers are completed by the self-owned factory, while standard surface-mount types are entrusted to packaging partners.

This "core in-house production + standard outsourcing" model balances capacity flexibility and technological control, further strengthening the independent and controllable capabilities of the industry chain.
Conclusion
In the "slow industry" of power devices, there are no myths of overtaking on the curve; there is only the patience to deeply cultivate niche tracks.
WeEn has completed the leap from a single-category champion to a multi-track platform. On the one hand, it has inherited NXP's stringent quality system, forging a "high-reliability" moat for its products; on the other hand, it possesses the agile genes of a local enterprise, achieving rapid closed-loop operations in product definition, market response, and operational finance. Relying on the "Five Horizontal and Four Vertical" product matrix and continuously implemented capacity construction, the company continuously supplies high-performance power devices to PV energy storage, NEV charging, and industrial energy-saving equipment. With high-quality power products, it reduces equipment energy consumption and improves energy conversion efficiency, tangibly empowering the low-carbon transition and jointly building a green development future.
