ChipInsights reported on November 4 that, according to the website of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), on November 2, Jiangsu-based semiconductor epitaxial wafer company Huaxing Optoelectronics filed for listing tutoring registration with the Jiangsu Bureau of the CSRC, initiating its A-share IPO process. The tutoring institution is GF Securities.
Huaxing Optoelectronics was established in February 2016, registered in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, with a registered capital of approximately CNY 69.4901 million. Its legal representative is Luo Shuai. The company has no controlling shareholder; the actual controllers are Ji Haiming, Luo Shuai, Cai Fangfang, and Wang Yan, who collectively control 42.62% of the voting shares.
According to the enterprise information platform Qichacha, Huaxing Optoelectronics has completed 10 rounds of financing since its inception. Investors include the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xichuangtou, Wuxi Guolian Jintou Qiyuan, Jinshi Investment, Xinhe Capital, Huatai Zijin, and Beyond Moore Fund, among others.
Huaxing Optoelectronics specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of compound semiconductor optoelectronic epitaxial wafers. Based primarily on Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) technology, electron beam/holographic lithography, and nanoimprint lithography, the company produces semiconductor epitaxial wafers with various structures and functions on Indium Phosphide (InP) and Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) substrates. These products are applied in fields such as laser communication, laser sensing, laser processing, and RF power amplifiers for mobile phones. Founder and Director Luo Shuai holds a PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and currently serves as an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, and as an Industrial Professor in Jiangsu Province.
Its official website states that Huaxing Optoelectronics is a national-level Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative (SRDI) key "Little Giant" enterprise and a Jiangsu Province "Potential Unicorn" enterprise. The company's semiconductor epitaxial wafer business is mainly divided into three categories: InP-based semiconductor epitaxial wafers, GaAs-based semiconductor epitaxial wafers, and custom epitaxial wafers. InP-based semiconductor epitaxial wafers are primarily targeted at high-speed optical communications and long-wavelength detection. This product line includes 18-channel 10G/25G DFB laser epitaxial wafers, 50G/100G EML epitaxial wafers (BH/RWG structure), and high-power continuous-wave DFB epitaxial wafers for silicon photonics solutions.
GaAs-based semiconductor epitaxial wafers mainly cover the near-infrared band and are used in LiDAR, pumping, and sensing applications. Specific products include edge-emitting laser epitaxial wafers at wavelengths of 808nm, 905nm, 915nm, and 976nm, as well as VCSEL/PIN epitaxial wafers for sensing and data communications. Custom epitaxial wafers primarily offer GaAs and InP-based epitaxy foundry services, providing customized development and production for clients with specific structural requirements.
Conclusion: Accelerating Domestic Substitution of Upstream Epitaxial Wafers to Fill Gaps in High-End Supply Chains
Compound semiconductor epitaxial wafers sit at the very upstream of the optoelectronic industry chain, where crystal quality and structural precision largely determine the performance of downstream laser and detector chips. Currently, the domestic market for high-end optical communication and RF epitaxial wafers remains dominated by overseas manufacturers such as IQE and Taiwan-based companies like VPEC. Against the backdrop of surging demand for high-speed optical modules driven by AI computing power and tight supply of high-end domestic epitaxial wafers, Huaxing Optoelectronics' launch of its IPO represents a substantive move by local material suppliers seeking capital for capacity expansion and aiming to penetrate core links in the high-end supply chain.
