Teardown: Lenovo 150W 3-Port USB-C GaN Charger MCFX150A3 With Infineon CoolGaN

by chongdiantouwang·October 26, 2026

Lenovo has launched a 150W multi-port USB-C GaN power adapter, model MCFX150A3. The charger features three USB-C ports. Both C1 and C2 support 140W output regardless of blind insertion, while C3 supports 65W. When all three ports are used simultaneously, the 150W power is intelligently distributed. The supported protocols cover PD3.2, PPS, AVS, QC3+/QC5, as well as Lenovo and moto proprietary fast charging.

The product can sustain full-load output at 40°C, supports a 1.5x rated power peak redundancy, and has a leakage current of only one-fifth of the national standard. Previous tests by Chargerlab showed that at 28V5A, approximately 140W full load was maintained for 60 consecutive hours without power stepping down, with a maximum body temperature of about 62°C. The circuit adopts a two-stage PFC+HFB architecture, with the main controller and GaN devices both sourced from Infineon. Let's take a look at the teardown to see the internal build quality and materials.

When the product was launched, we also introduced its commercial-grade design. Those interested can click to view it.

Meanwhile, Chargerlab has also published a review article on this product. In a constant temperature environment, it ran at a full load of about 140W (28V5A) for 60 consecutive hours without any power stepping down, and the maximum body temperature was only about 62°C. The complete and detailed review is in the article below; those interested can click to read it.

Over the years, Chargerlab has torn down nearly 40 Lenovo chargers, with power ratings ranging from 10W to 400W.

In addition, Chargerlab has cumulatively torn down over 1,500 chargers, with a timeline spanning from 2015 to 2026.

Chargerlab Summary

Finally, the bill of materials for the product is attached for your reference.

From the teardown by Chargerlab, it is understood that this Lenovo 150W multi-port GaN adapter adopts a two-stage PFC+HFB architecture. The main controller XDPS2BF11, GaN half-bridge IGI65D1414A, and PFC switch IGL65R080D2 are all from Infineon, forming a mature solution verified by original power supplies from major manufacturers. The output end uses three sub-boards to handle the three USB-C ports, with Southchip SC8002 for step-down and Hynetek HUSB362 for the protocol chip. Capacitors are from first-tier brands such as Aihua, Polycap, and Terey. The whole machine is reinforced with glue, featuring double-sided brass heat sinks combined with grounded pins.

For desktop users who need to power laptops, tablets, and smartphones simultaneously, replacing three or four original adapters with a single plug is its most practical value.
