Recently, Taiyi Liangsheng (Shanghai) Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Taiyi Liangsheng") has completed a new round of financing, with the cumulative financing exceeding CNY 1 billion. It has been less than four months since the disclosure of the CNY 300 million Pre-A round financing in June this year.
This round of financing was led by existing shareholder Huakong, with the participation of investors such as Jinqiu Fund, Chengdu Gaoxin Vision Fund, Yunbai Capital, Lingang Frontier Investment, Hongruida Investment, and Ningbo Huihao. Existing shareholders including Hengxu Capital, Boyuan Capital, Yarui Capital, and Gaomai Capital continued to increase their investments.
Founded in January 2026, Taiyi Liangsheng is headquartered in Xuhui, Shanghai, and is the first domestic complete machine enterprise focusing on ytterbium atom neutral atom quantum computers. It is reported that after this round, the company's valuation has reached the unicorn level.
Two Fudan Alumni Building Quantum Computers in Shanghai
The two founders of Taiyi Liangsheng come from the frontlines of investment and technology, respectively.
One is Fang Zhenghao, who has nearly 15 years of experience in frontier technology investment and industrial practice, having invested in and incubated over 100 technology enterprises; the other is Liu Hongbin, former Chief Architect of Microsoft Quantum, who led the design of Microsoft's quantum architecture and the strategic layout of the neutral atom route, possessing full-chain R&D experience from quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, and system architecture to complete machine engineering.
The two have known each other for many years and have maintained long-term exchanges in fields such as quantum computing and AI for Science. As quantum computing continues to heat up at the policy, scientific research, and industrial levels, their judgments on the neutral atom route have gradually converged, and they ultimately decided to start a business together in this direction.
In terms of division of labor, Fang Zhenghao serves as the CEO, responsible for strategy, financing, operations, and organizational management; Liu Hongbin serves as the CTO, responsible for the technical route, product architecture, and the construction of the R&D system. The complementarity of their commercialization cognition and technical architecture capabilities forms the foundation for the company's rapid advancement.
What they aim to build is not an isolated experimental result, but a quantum computer supported by multiple complex systems.
Neutral atom quantum computing requires the use of lasers and other means to capture, arrange, and manipulate atoms, using specific quantum states as qubits. Beyond atom manipulation, links such as vacuum, optics, measurement and control, and software must also work in coordination. Instability in any single link could affect the performance of the complete machine. This also determines that the team cannot be composed solely of people from a single discipline.
Currently, the Taiyi Liangsheng team is approaching 100 members, coming from universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Cambridge, Tsinghua University, and Peking University, research institutions such as JILA and CQT, as well as enterprises like Microsoft and Zurich Instruments, covering directions such as physics, optics, control, software, and algorithms.
It is revealed that the company has attracted foreign scientific research and engineering personnel. Multiple members, despite receiving job offers from enterprises such as QuEra and Oratomic, still chose to join Taiyi Liangsheng.
For an enterprise that has been established for less than a year, rapidly building an interdisciplinary team is the foundation for advancing R&D.
Achieving Three Key Milestones in 8 Months Since Establishment
Quantum computing includes multiple parallel technical routes such as superconducting, trapped ion, photonic, and neutral atoms, with each route having its own advantages and disadvantages. However, regardless of the route, all must face a fundamental challenge: how to truly transform the continuously expanding scale of physical qubits into error-correctable, scalable, and computable logical computing power.
Qubits are susceptible to noise. To support longer and more complex computations, it is usually necessary to encode multiple physical qubits into more reliable logical qubits through quantum error correction. This not only tests atom manipulation but also the coordination of control systems, error correction schemes, and software.
Taiyi Liangsheng's technical choice starts from the ultimate computational tasks and fault-tolerance goals, deducing error correction, architecture, and the physical base layer by layer.
Since its inception, the company has chosen a differentiated innovation path—using large-scale fault tolerance as the goal to guide technical choices and system design, carrying out integrated layout around the physical base, system architecture, quantum error correction, real-time control, and software technology stack, with the ytterbium atom system as the core, to advance a general-purpose quantum computing platform oriented towards practical application and scaling.
Over the 8 months since its establishment, the company has disclosed phased progress at three levels: the complete machine, control, and software.
In March this year, Taiyi Liangsheng began building its laboratory and completed the complete machine integration of the prototype within 6 months, promoting discrete technical modules into a unified system and collaborative debugging, shifting R&D from single-point breakthroughs to the stage of systems engineering.
Currently, Taiyi Liangsheng has completed system integration around core links such as autonomous control systems, optical systems, vacuum systems, and classical computing clusters. The real-time control closed-loop system for quantum error correction has also been developed.
Alongside complete machine integration, Taiyi Liangsheng has achieved key progress in the real-time control link. The company has initially established a closed-loop feedback from camera input and data processing to atom rearrangement, with real-time control latency entering the 10-microsecond level, establishing an engineering foundation for subsequent functions such as continuous loading, quantum manipulation, and automatic error correction.
At the software level, Taiyi Liangsheng has open-sourced the quantum compiler "LUOSHU" globally. Designed for real neutral atom hardware, LUOSHU can convert standard OpenQASM 3 quantum circuits into hardware-executable operations such as atom displacement and quantum gate scheduling, establishing a direct compilation link between algorithms and physical machines.
Under Taiyi Liangsheng's current testing conditions, the compilation time of LUOSHU for a typical 20-qubit circuit can be less than 2 milliseconds. It can adapt to hybrid quantum algorithm scenarios that require a large amount of recompilation during the computation loop, and also provides a foundation for compilation to further enter the real-time control closed loop.
From the physical base and real-time control to the software stack, Taiyi Liangsheng is building a hardware-software collaborative technology system oriented towards large-scale fault tolerance.
As of now, the company has carried out joint research, scenario exploration, technology verification, and POC cooperation with research institutions and industrial enterprises around five major industrial directions: nuclear industry, energy and chemical industry, new energy and new materials, biomedicine, and finance.
The Capital Window for Quantum Computing Is Opening
Looking back at the financing history, the starting speed of Taiyi Liangsheng is indeed very fast.
In March this year, the company announced the completion of an angel round financing of over CNY 100 million, co-led by Shanghai Future Industry Fund and iFlytek Ventures, with follow-on investments from industrial parties such as JinkoSolar Holding, Galaxy General, and Yaben Chemical, as well as institutions like Houxue Investment.
In June, the company disclosed the completion of a CNY 300 million Pre-A round financing, co-led by Gaorong Capital, IDG Capital, and others, with the participation of Huakong Fund, Yunqi Partners, Fortune Capital, Boyuan Capital, SAIC Financial Holdings, and Hengxu Capital. Adding this new financing, the cumulative amount has exceeded CNY 1 billion.
From the composition of investors, behind Taiyi Liangsheng are both market-oriented investment institutions and industrial capital and local funds. For an industry like quantum computing, which requires large investments and has a long R&D cycle, funding first means space for team expansion, equipment investment, and continuous R&D; industrial capital and local funds, on the other hand, may bring application scenarios, supply chains, and regional resources.
The accelerated pace of financing is related not only to the company's own technological progress but also to the industrial environment in which quantum computing is situated.
The explosion in computing power demand is an indisputable fact. AI large model training, molecular simulation, and financial risk calculation—these tasks are continuously amplifying the consumption of computing power, while the performance improvement speed of classical chips has slowed down. When Moore's Law approaches its physical limits, finding a new computing paradigm is no longer a long-term proposition, but a realistic pressure faced by an increasing number of industries.
Policy signals are also upgrading simultaneously. After the "15th Five-Year Plan" listed quantum technology as the top future industry, the industrial layout from the central to local levels has significantly accelerated. Shanghai's actions in the field of quantum computing are particularly intensive, ranging from the forward-looking layout of the future industry fund to the creation of quantum industry incubation zones in areas like Xuhui, and the provision of industrial capital support by Lingang, providing systematic support for quantum computing enterprises from R&D to implementation.
For Taiyi Liangsheng, the cumulative financing of over CNY 1 billion provides a time window for continued R&D investment. However, whether this money can ultimately be transformed into competitiveness depends on whether the company can continue to advance system integration, deliver more stable error correction capabilities, and verify the application value of quantum computing in specific industrial problems.
