At the Shenbochuang Bao'an Port Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Station, the reporter witnessed the "Megawatt Speed" firsthand: within just 15 minutes of connecting the charging gun, a heavy-duty truck's battery level surged from 10% to 80%, achieving a fourfold improvement in energy replenishment efficiency compared to ordinary charging piles.
Such scenes have become commonplace in Shenzhen: in logistics hub areas, freight heavy-duty trucks efficiently enter and exit charging stations; beside concrete plants, specialized heavy vehicles such as concrete mixers and dump trucks slowly drive into charging stations, gaining 100 kilometers of range with just a 5-minute charge... In addition to ultra-fast charging stations for heavy-duty trucks, those catering to private cars are springing up everywhere, becoming a striking sight along the streets and alleys of Shenzhen.
In June 2025, Shenzhen comprehensively launched the "Ultra-Fast Charging City 2.0" project to upgrade the charging infrastructure for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), which has now yielded remarkable results. As of February 2026, the city has built 1,098 ultra-fast charging stations and 536,000 charging facilities, making it the world's first "Ultra-Fast Charging City" where the number of ultra-fast charging stations and charging guns surpasses that of gas stations and fuel nozzles. On March 25, the 2026 Huawei Digital Power China Partner Conference was held in Shenzhen. Huawei deeply participated in the urban energy upgrade with core technologies such as liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging and megawatt-level heavy-duty truck ultra-fast charging, focusing on electric mobility and the new power system to inject strong momentum into the construction of the "Ultra-Fast Charging City." Hou Jinlong, Director of Huawei and President of Huawei Digital Power, stated that the global energy landscape is currently undergoing a transformation, with the energy revolution and digital revolution deeply integrated. The digital energy industry has entered a critical window period for high-quality transformation.
New Energy Enters the "Dominant" Era
Currently, the structure of energy production and consumption is undergoing a fundamental reconstruction, and new energy has officially entered the ranks of mainstream energy sources. By the end of 2025, China's cumulative grid-connected installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power exceeded 1.8 billion kilowatts, and the combined installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power historically surpassed thermal power... With planning on the source side, support on the grid side, demand on the load side, and scale in energy storage, all these phenomena indicate that the development of the digital energy industry has entered a new stage of "high-quality development."
Meanwhile, AI token consumption is currently growing exponentially and AI (Artificial Intelligence) data centers have become the core engine for power demand growth. While new types of electrical loads are experiencing explosive growth, they will also comprehensively drive technological innovation and industrial transformation in fields such as "wind and solar new energy, grid-forming energy storage, high-density power supply, high-power heat dissipation, and virtual power plants." "The two-way drive of electrification on the consumption side and the scaling of new energy on the production side is accelerating the deep integration of source-grid-load-storage," Hou Jinlong emphasized. "The stability of high-proportion new energy grid connection has become a core challenge in the construction of the new power system."
Based on this, Huawei has proposed and implemented full-scenario grid-forming technology, leading the transition of the new energy grid connection mode from a "current source" to a "voltage source." "From 'supplementary energy' to 'main power source', from 'passive consumption' to 'active support', grid-forming technology is redefining the 'system role' of new energy," said Hou Jinlong. The reporter learned that, targeting grid-forming technology, Huawei has launched the world's first "grid-forming smart string inverter," achieving a fundamental shift of new energy from "passive following" to "active support." Huawei's smart string grid-forming energy storage has also comprehensively broken through the bottleneck of scaled application and has been successfully implemented in hundreds of projects globally.
In addition, at this 2026 Huawei China Digital Energy Partner Conference, Huawei also brought a series of technical highlights to contribute to Shenzhen's "Ultra-Fast Charging City" and even the national new energy power network. In the field of energy storage safety, Huawei has downgraded the safety protection level from the mainstream "cabinet level" to the "battery pack level," achieving non-propagation of battery thermal runaway and blocking the spread of safety risks from the source. In the field of charging networks, Huawei has deeply cultivated vehicle electrification energy replenishment technology, enabling ultra-fast energy replenishment of "equivalent to one kilometer of range per second for passenger cars and "100 kilometers in 5 minutes" for electric heavy-duty trucks.
"Technological breakthroughs are not isolated points, but rather the coordinated upgrading of the entire upstream and downstream industrial chain. Looking at the entire digital energy industry, currently, core fields such as smart PV, grid-forming technology, energy storage safety, ultra-fast charging networks, AI, and data centers have all achieved key technological breakthroughs, and a new blue ocean of cross-border integrated development has been opened," Hou Jinlong summarized.
Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Technology Illuminates the "Ultra-Fast Charging City"
In the "Ultra-Fast Charging City" of Shenzhen, the reporter saw that megawatt ultra-fast charging stations provide crucial support for industries such as logistics and transportation. The Bao'an Comprehensive Port Park in Fuhai Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, as the core logistics area in the west, is highly clustered with surrounding ports, logistics parks, and yards. The demand for heavy-duty truck transportation is strong, with up to 7,000 passes of dump trucks and heavy transport vehicles daily, exceeding 10,000 during peak periods. The largest commercial vehicle ultra-fast charging station in Guangdong currently—the Bao'an Port Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Station—is located here. One megawatt-level liquid-cooled charging pile for heavy-duty trucks, two liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging piles, and 87 air-cooled DC dual-gun fast charging piles inject a steady stream of power into these transport heavy-duty trucks: as the charging station starts operating, the charging progress on the screen keeps jumping. Amidst the roar of the liquid-cooled host, a nearly 20-ton heavy-duty truck takes less than 20 minutes to be "fully recharged" and returns to transportation.
"Megawatt ultra-fast charging has greatly improved transportation efficiency and simultaneously brought considerable economic benefits," a person in charge of a concrete transportation company told the reporter. "After the comprehensive application of electric heavy-duty trucks, megawatt ultra-fast charging can increase transportation efficiency by 15%, significantly improving the daily transportable mileage. The company has gained profits, drivers can earn more money, and annual maintenance costs can be saved by 100,000 to 150,000 RMB compared to fuel heavy-duty trucks. It is a well-deserved 'win-win'."
The reporter learned that such 10G ultra-fast charging solutions have covered multiple scenarios in Shenzhen, including logistics hubs and port areas, and have been implemented in five stations such as the Shenzhen International Pingshen Heavy-Duty Truck Ultra-Fast Charging Station and the Shenbochuang Bao'an Port Heavy-Duty Truck Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Station, gradually radiating beyond Shenzhen. For example, the Degao New Energy Concrete Dedicated Heavy-Duty Truck Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Station, located next to the Dongguan Hengli New Energy PV-Storage-Charging Heavy-Duty Truck Application Demonstration Base, features dual guns that can sustainably output a current of up to 2400A. The charging capacity of a single station exceeds 7,000 kWh per day, making it the world's first ultra-fast charging station dedicated to mixer trucks equipped with Huawei's megawatt ultra-fast charging products. Meanwhile, the photovoltaic installed capacity of this ultra-fast charging station is 350 kW, utilizing Huawei's smart PV inverter, with an annual power generation exceeding 380,000 kWh, further boosting green energy development.
Looking across the country, as of December 2025, Huawei Digital Power, together with its customers and partners, has deployed high-quality ultra-fast charging networks in 32 provincial-level administrative regions, over 200 cities, 200 counties, and along more than 60 expressways nationwide. They have opened over 20 ultra-fast charging logistics trunk lines, realizing the construction vision of "where there is a road, there is high-quality charging."
Facing the future construction of ultra-fast charging networks, Huawei stated that it will focus on the opportunities of heavy-duty truck electrification in the charging network field, launch the heavy-duty truck megawatt ultra-fast charging partner policy, build an industrial ecosystem, and help partners seize new growth opportunities in all-electric logistics. At the same time, it will build a "Partner + Huawei" joint innovation platform to jointly carry out innovations in PV-storage-charging solutions, heavy-duty truck ultra-fast charging business ecosystems, GW-level data center energy solutions, and digital operation and maintenance.
