New energy storage products are shifting the paradigm of competition.

Recently, multiple energy storage-related enterprises have launched over 20 new energy storage products and solutions, involving more than a dozen domestic and international companies such as BYD (002594), Hithium, Shouhang New Energy (301658), Kunyu Power, Gaote Electronics (301669), HuaBao New Energy (301327), and South Korea's DS Dansuk.

A review by Hangjia Shuo Energy Storage reveals that this new round of products further pushes the competition towards system capabilities, scenario adaptation, operational returns, and full life-cycle value. The details are as follows:

Sodium-ion batteries are no longer just reserves at the cell level; system capacity and mass production pace are rising simultaneously;

Computing-power and electricity synergy is transitioning from concept to product, with data center backup power evolving towards liquid cooling/immersion, 6C high C-rate, and integrated computing and storage;

C&I (Commercial and Industrial) energy storage is increasingly becoming a "precise calculation problem," where 1C precise matching, integrated PV and storage, microgrid operation, and energy-carbon integration are all indispensable;

Utility-scale energy storage continues to seek answers in grid-forming capabilities, large-capacity units, long lifespan, and low LCOE;

Residential, portable, and mobile energy storage continue to become lighter and more integrated, with large-capacity home energy storage and vehicle-mounted mobile storage-charging advancing in parallel;

Cross-industry players are also accelerating their entry, with companies from backgrounds in resource recycling, inverters, and computing power successively entering the energy storage track.

▍Shouhang New Energy: PowerIn C&I Integrated PV and Storage System Solution

On September 21, Shouhang New Energy launched the PowerIn C&I integrated PV and storage system solution (125kW/257kWh), positioned as "an integrated PV and storage solution that better understands the Chinese market." This solution adopts a DC-coupled grid-connected architecture, equipped with the SOFAR 100-125KTLC-G4-ESS C&I PV-storage inverter and CBS9000 series battery cabinets. It features 314Ah large-capacity cells. One inverter can be paired with two battery cabinets in parallel, supporting up to 16 inverters in parallel, with a maximum system capacity of 2000kW/8MWh. It can also be equipped with SOFAR AI-EMS for active optimization to improve yield. Combined with the on-site demonstration at the launch event, the solution boasts six major advantages: stability and reliability, safety, convenience, high efficiency, intelligence, and maintenance-free operation, making it suitable for various C&I application scenarios. On-site, Shouhang New Energy also reached cooperation agreements with five companies including Changzhou Junyue and SOLARMAN, signing a total scale of 100MW inverters and 140MWh energy storage battery cabinets.

▍Kunyu Power: Immersion Lithium-ion and Sodium-ion Battery Systems

On September 18, Kunyu Power launched its new generation of 800V-class data center backup power products: the CFS80085U immersion lithium-ion battery system and the CNS80050U immersion sodium-ion battery system. Both adopt a full-domain liquid cooling design, with a cell temperature difference of within 2℃ and a 6C discharge capability. They are compatible with two/three-line power supply architectures and can support 10-15 minutes of backup power supply. The modular design reduces the footprint and can be widely used in computing power infrastructure such as intelligent computing centers, supercomputing centers, and cloud data centers. Among them, the immersion sodium-ion battery system is specifically designed for the backup power scenarios of intelligent computing centers with GPU clusters featuring high power fluctuations and large-scale deployment. Compared with traditional air-cooled sodium-ion, lithium-ion, and lead-acid backup power solutions, it has more significant competitive advantages in safety protection, temperature consistency, and space utilization efficiency. Both products have passed multiple authoritative safety and compliance certifications in North America and internationally, including UL9540A, UL1973, FCC, and IEC62619.

▍Hithium: 785Ah Sodium-ion Battery and 4MWh System

On September 16, Hithium released a new generation of integrated sodium-ion battery solution dedicated to energy storage, launching the 4MWh sodium-ion energy storage system — ∞Power N4.0MWh, equipped with the ∞Cell N785Ah large-capacity sodium-ion battery. The system adopts a native sodium-ion architecture, achieving an all-weather comprehensive energy efficiency of ≥88%, enabling ultra-long stable service of 30 years, and reducing the site footprint by 30%. At the same time, the system features higher safety and extraordinary lifespan; it is equipped with Hithium's self-developed ∞Cell N785Ah large-capacity sodium-ion cells, reaching 20,000 cycles. Dr. Wang Shiwen, Dean of the Hithium Battery Research Institute, revealed that the system will commence full-chain mass production and delivery in 2027. She also stated that this sodium-ion solution will start from utility-scale power energy storage and gradually expand to C&I, residential, and inclusive energy use (click here).

▍UPOWER: Brand New 1C C-rate C&I Microgrid Energy Storage System

Facing long-standing pain points in overseas C&I energy storage scenarios such as the mismatch between power and capacity, and the severe waste of user investment, UPOWER has launched 1C C-rate C&I microgrid energy storage products, including two versions: the indoor stacked UHB150D and the outdoor cabinet UMG-BSS-122E. Each module is uniformly equipped with a 15kWh battery and a rated voltage of 104V. A single system can stack up to 16 modules, with a maximum capacity of 246kWh.
This new product achieves a precise 1:1 matching of power and capacity, requiring only 1kWh battery capacity for 1kW power, completely eliminating redundant configurations. It is reported that in a C&I project with a 500kW power demand, traditional 0.5C products require a mandatory configuration of 1MWh batteries, whereas the UPOWER 1C product only needs 500kWh to fully meet the demand. The battery configuration is directly halved, significantly compressing the overall system cost and O&M costs, and markedly shortening the project investment payback period.

▍BYD Energy Storage: GW-scale Grid-forming Energy Storage Solution 2.0

On September 15, BYD Energy Storage released a new energy storage product — the GW-scale grid-forming energy storage solution 2.0, which includes the plant-level standard GC Block (62MWh), GC Flux PCS 2.0, and GC Master EMS 2.0. It is targeted at scenarios such as independent energy storage, renewable energy storage allocation, computing-power and electricity synergy, zero-carbon parks, and flash-charging storage allocation. Calculated based on the maximum gear of 10MW/62MWh, a 1GW energy storage power station requires only 100 sets of GC Blocks, equipped with 1980Ah dedicated energy storage blade batteries. The number of cells in the entire station can be reduced from about 3 million to less than 1 million.

Overall, BYD's GW-scale grid-forming energy storage solution 2.0 can achieve a 2.7% increase in the comprehensive efficiency of the entire station, a 3.1% increase in full life-cycle discharge volume, and a 5.5% optimization in the full life-cycle levelized cost of energy (LCOE) (click here).

▍Xinjuneng: ETH Integrated Computing and Power Unit

In the era of computing power explosion, how to safeguard data security for every intelligent decision? Based on this, Xinjuneng officially released the ETH Integrated Computing and Power Unit, integrating AI inference servers with energy storage systems to create a distributed computing and power integrated solution. The energy storage system is 125kW/265kWh, and the computing power system is flexibly configurable, compatible with 4/8/16 cards.
