According to public information, the central control screens of new models from Zeekr and Hyundai Motor adopt Mini LED technology.
Among them, the five-seat version of the Zeekr 9X was officially launched on July 28, and its optional 16-inch QD-Mini LED central control screen is exclusively supplied by HIWAY.
Hyundai Motor plans to launch the eighth-generation Avante in the second half of this year, which will be equipped with a 14.6-inch Quantum Dot Mini LED central control display screen supplied by BOE Varitronix (BOE VX).
▋ Zeekr 9X Five-Seat Version: Optional 16-inch QD-Mini LED Central Control Screen Supplied by HIWAY
On July 28, the five-seat version of the Zeekr 9X was officially launched, offering three configurations: Ultra, Hyper, and Obsidian Black Edition. The official guide price is 471,900 to 585,900 RMB, and the limited-time benefit price is 451,900 to 565,900 RMB.
The new car is built on the SEA-S platform. Dimensions are 5239×2029×1819mm with a wheelbase of 3169mm. It adopts a 2+3 five-seat layout. With the third row removed, the maximum legroom in the second row reaches 1400mm, and the trunk volume is 1082L (expandable to a maximum of 2473L). The rear row is equipped with dual zero-gravity seats, dual Eames lounge chairs, a central electric armrest, and dual executive desk boards.
In terms of the cockpit, the five-seat version continues the standard configuration of a 16-inch 3.5K central control screen combined with a 16-inch passenger-side OLED linked screen, while also offering an optional 16-inch QD-Mini LED central control screen. This optional component is exclusively supplied by HIWAY, adopting a blue-light COB + QD quantum dot film solution. It is equipped with 1232 backlight dimming zones for local dimming, featuring a 3.5K resolution, 236 PPI, 900 nits brightness, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. The assembly thickness is approximately 12mm, with a screen-to-body ratio of nearly 90%. It adopts a rounded display area and a magnesium alloy edge-wrapping design, with a lifespan of ≥20,000 hours under the LT80@25℃ standard.
Notably, HIWAY has previously mass-produced and equipped this product on the Zeekr 7X/9X series, and it continues to supply it as an optional component for the 9X five-seat version this time.
▋ Hyundai Motor Eighth-Generation Avante: BOE Varitronix Supplies 14.6-inch Quantum Dot Mini LED Central Control Display Screen
On July 29, news broke that Hyundai Motor plans to launch the eighth-generation Avante (the corresponding model in China is the Elantra) in the second half of this year.
According to reports from South Korean media, the core cockpit hardware of the eighth-generation Avante comes from the mass-produced 14.6-inch Quantum Dot Mini LED central control display screen provided by BOE Varitronix (BOE VX), an automotive display subsidiary of BOE. The delivery process involves BOE Varitronix delivering panel and module products to AUMOVIO (formerly the automotive electronics division of Continental AG), a Tier-1 automotive parts supplier. AUMOVIO completes the assembly of the display module and system integration, and the final product is delivered to Hyundai Motor's complete vehicle factory.
From a product perspective, the 14.6-inch screen supplied by BOE Varitronix this time is a dedicated LCD display screen for the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). It adopts a QD Mini LED backlight solution with a resolution of 2560×1440, a peak brightness of 1000 nits, 627 independent backlight dimming zones for local dimming, and a contrast ratio of up to 1,000,000:1. However, during the R&D phase, this screen was not specifically bound to the Avante model. Hyundai initiated custom development using only the complete vehicle platform code, and it was not until the mid-to-late stage of the project that it was finalized for implementation in the new Avante for mass production.
The official selection of the quantum dot backlight solution is primarily aimed at matching the interaction requirements of Hyundai Motor's next-generation in-vehicle infotainment system, PLEOS Connect, providing a superior visual foundation for high-definition UI display, multi-task split-screen operations, and in-vehicle audio and video playback.
Based on the technological advantages of QD Mini LED, Hyundai Motor has completed the planning for its third-generation in-vehicle display platform, uniformly equipped with QD Mini LED backlights. It covers three mainstream sizes: 9.9-inch, 14.6-inch, and 17-inch, adaptable to the cockpit layouts of vehicles at different levels.
