LED Display Industry Q2 2026 Report: Key Trends, Technologies and Market Outlook

by hangjiashuoDisplay·August 6, 2026

Recently, the "LED Display Industry Quarterly Analysis Report Q2 (2026)" by Expert Insights Industry Research Center was officially published. The content covers performance reviews, event and trend interpretations, product and technology dynamics, as well as the Expert Insights Information and Knowledge Management Database.

From a review perspective, the key highlights of the LED display industry in the first half of 2026 are as follows:

1. In the first half of 2026, the broader display industry was affected by rising prices of memory chips, PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), and electronic components, putting pressure on consumer electronics terminal demand. However, most observed leading companies and advantageous players in segmented tracks maintained a growth trend. In the LED display screen industry, due to price increases, inventory across all segments saw a rise.

2. Leading COB module manufacturers and panel makers continued to expand capacity, with new players entering the market. Behind these moves is the industry trend of COB technology accelerating the substitution of traditional SMD solutions. According to the forecast in the Expert Insights "2026 COB/MIP Display Research Report (Special Issue)", the overall monthly shipment volume of COB will grow from the current level to 220,000-240,000 square meters by 2030, with products of P1.5 and above pitch becoming the main force.

3. In the first half of 2026, LED all-in-one machines continued last year's growth trend, with shipments from major players showing growth. Meanwhile, following market exploration and feedback in previous years, entering 2026, the product specifications of LED all-in-one machines showed a further convergence trend, with standardization becoming clearer. The product distribution formed a mainstream specification of 135-inch P1.5 2K resolution and 165-inch P1.8 2K resolution, along with high-end models of 165-inch P0.9 4K resolution.

4. In the first half of 2026, driven by the development of micro-short dramas and the digital upgrade of the film and television industry, the market demand for LED virtual studios was steadily released. The growth momentum in the domestic market came from the expansion of the micro-short drama industry and its deep integration with AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology. Coupled with the lowering of the technical threshold for LED virtual shooting and the emergence of lightweight solutions, the popularity of LED virtual studios in the domestic market has improved. The overseas market is dominated by Hollywood blockbusters and high-end advertising, focusing more on technological maturity and the perfection of the ecosystem. The deployment cycle is relatively longer, and the continuous demand for visual effects and immersive content is the main growth engine.

5. Regarding LED cinema screens, although the overall market scale is currently small, project implementations continued to grow in the first half of 2026. The possibility of diversified operation of cinemas is a positive factor accelerating the implementation of LED cinema screens, smoothing the revenue fluctuations during peak and off-peak seasons. Moreover, LED cinema screen technology better meets the playback needs of HDR films. Coupled with the release of demand from cinema equipment updates and differentiated screening halls, the market ecosystem of LED cinema screens continued to mature in the first half of 2026.

6. Terminal brands are collectively advancing RGB-Mini LED and SQD Mini LED technologies. To date, several terminal brands have introduced RGB-Mini LED and SQD Mini LED technologies in multiple TV models, while some are also exploring multi-primary color backlight solutions. Against the backdrop of conventional Mini LED backlight TV products gradually maturing and penetrating the market, terminal brands flagging RGB-Mini LED, SQD Mini LED, and multi-primary color Mini LED backlights may prompt these three Mini LED technology routes to become important technologies for future high-end TV products.

7. As the future development trend of AI (Artificial Intelligence) data centers becomes increasingly clear, Micro LED CPO has attracted continuous attention due to its significant advantages in short-distance communication. This has attracted a host of LED manufacturers to deploy, including ams OSRAM, Sanan Optoelectronics, BOE (BOE Technology Group), AUO (AU Optronics), PlayNitride, Megmeet, and Changelight.

8. AR glasses capacity expansion is accelerating. The terminal boom is transmitting inversely to the upstream, with the supply chain simultaneously increasing the capacity investment of Micro LED micro-display and optical waveguide. Below are some key highlights. For the detailed table of contents and report consultation, please click at the end of the article.

LED Display H1 2026 Performance Interpretation
This quarter coincides with the disclosure window for the semi-annual performance forecast of A-share companies. As of July 31, the "LED Display Industry Quarterly Analysis Report Q2 (2026)" has compiled the performance forecasts of 15 LED display-related enterprises.

Overall, the industry showed a significant recovery in Q2. The absolute value of net profit for most LED display enterprises in Q2 achieved growth compared to Q1, showing a clear quarter-on-quarter growth trend. Meanwhile, enterprises with new technology penetration growth (such as Mini LED backlight and automotive tracks) and overseas layouts demonstrated stronger growth resilience.

Looking at different segments, in Q2, the performance of some LED chip manufacturers was greatly affected by non-LED businesses. The LED packaging segment generally improved, with MLS (Mulinsen), Dongshan Precision, and Xindeco achieving year-on-year growth in net profit in Q2. In the LED display screen and supply chain segment, Absen took the lead in disclosing the semi-annual report, with revenue and gross profit margin achieving year-on-year growth. It is expected that the benefits of control cards and driver ICs will both improve under the trend of price increases in the first half of the year. However, the performance of the panel segment showed significant differentiation, with leading panel makers maintaining good growth resilience.

BOE (BOE Technology Group) benefited from the large-size trend of LCD and the exit of old production lines on the supply side. TV panel prices rose from January to April and stabilized from May to June, leading to a significant year-on-year growth in LCD performance. Flexible AMOLED shipments maintained year-on-year growth. TCL CSOT (TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology) saw improved profitability in large sizes, capacity release in medium size t9, and short-term pressure in small size OLED, but high-end transformation is showing results. Tianma and Visionox faced performance pressure.

Continuous COB Capacity Expansion
This quarter, Zhaochi Jingxian and TCL CSOT continued to increase investment in COB production line construction, while Jingying Yingwang entered the track as a new player.

Zhaochi Jingxian launched the second phase of the Mini COB display module project, planning to expand the RGB small-pitch COB packaging production line in batches, from the existing 3,000 to 8,100. Upon completion, the monthly production capacity will enter the scale of tens of thousands of square meters. The core equipment of the PH2 project of TCL CSOT's MLED production base has been moved in. After being put into production, the monthly production capacity of COB direct display will double to 12K. The automated COB production line of Jingying Yingwang has been put into production, with a total planned capacity of 35,000 square meters.
