Infineon & Skeleton: Developing AIDC Power Solutions Based on SiC Technology
On September 21, Infineon announced on its official WeChat account that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Skeleton Technologies to jointly build efficient and highly reliable power solutions for modern data centers.
It is understood that Skeleton is a global company developing high-power energy storage systems for AI data center scenarios. According to the agreement, Infineon and Skeleton will jointly explore and develop advanced architectures covering the entire power supply chain of AI data centers from the grid to the core, which includes a new generation of solid-state transformers that realize the conversion from medium-voltage AC to high-voltage DC.
Specifically, this collaboration covers SiC and GaN product portfolios. The two parties plan to combine Infineon's high-voltage CoolSiC™ power semiconductors with Skeleton's advantages in power conversion systems and supercapacitor technology. In addition, the two parties will jointly promote the development of GaN-based peak shaving systems, combining Skeleton's capacitor technology with Infineon's CoolGaN™ power semiconductors.
Through the strong combination of complementary technologies and system-level expertise, this collaboration is expected to achieve substantial improvements in energy efficiency, power density, and system reliability, while helping data center operators reduce overall equipment costs.
Archimedes Semiconductor: SiC Solution Applied in 10kV SST
On September 4, Archimedes Semiconductor revealed on its official WeChat account that, after long-term multi-project cooperation with a certain customer, they have established a comprehensive partnership. The relevant power modules have been successfully applied in the customer's 10kV SST and passed test verification, with mass shipment expected in 2027.
It is reported that for 10kV class SSTs, Archimedes Semiconductor adopts a comprehensive solution of hybrid IGBT + SiC MOSFET devices, mainly using 1200V IGBT and SiC MOSFET modules, which can be adapted to two technical routes: 800V DC intermediate bus and 1500V DC intermediate bus.
Archimedes Semiconductor stated that by combining IGBT and SiC MOSFET devices and using SiC devices only in the high-frequency link, the number of SiC devices used in the whole machine can be reduced. This effectively alleviates the industry pain point of tight supply of SiC power devices at this stage, controls the material cost of the whole machine from the device end, and enhances the market competitiveness of the products.
xFusion: Releases SST Prototype
On September 19, xFusion revealed on its official WeChat account that it showcased products and solutions for scenarios such as AIDC power supply and power consumption in high energy-consuming parks at the 2026 International Digital Energy Exhibition, which included the solid-state transformer prototype.
In May this year, xFusion reached a strategic cooperation with Founder Microelectronics. As a core partner, xFusion will fully adopt Founder Microelectronics' SiC chips and power module products, and the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation around AI intelligent computing and data center power supply scenarios.
Specifically, Founder Microelectronics will provide xFusion with 650V-2300V full voltage platform SiC MOSFET devices, power modules, and one-stop solutions, covering key scenarios such as SST, UPS, HVDC, and AI server power supplies.
From this perspective, xFusion's launch of the solid-state transformer prototype means that the SiC cooperation between the two parties is moving from a strategic agreement to product implementation, and xFusion's SST layout for AIDC has also entered the stage of prototype verification and product promotion.
Chint Group: Developing SST and Other Products Based on SiC Technology
On September 8, according to Chao News, Chint Group, in response to the surging new demands for computing infrastructure, has independently developed and launched a high energy density solid-state transformer. Adopting new materials such as SiC and graphene, its reliability and response speed have been significantly improved, meeting the high-load power supply scenarios of data centers.
Founded in 1984, Chint Group Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive power and energy solution provider. It has three core industries: green energy industry ecosystem, intelligent electrical industry ecosystem, and smart home sector. It also has two listed companies under it: Chint Electrics and Chint Power Systems.
Chint Group continues to increase its investment in the SiC industry and has taken multiple actions:
In 2020, LipSi completed its Pre-A round of financing, with the financing amount reaching CNY 40 million, led by Chint Group and followed by Shuimu Yide.
In December 2022, Chint Group and REFIRE Group jointly released technical achievements, which included the hydrogen energy SiC DC/DC converter. This SiC converter will be applied not only in hydrogen vehicles but also in hydrogen power stations, with a peak conversion efficiency of over 98.5%.
In November 2023, Chint Group issued a statement saying that the Yueqing Municipal People's Government in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chint Group and Mushangxin Semiconductor on the SiC material R&D and production base project.
Overall, Chint Group continuously improves its SiC industry chain layout through capital investment, technological synergy, and material base construction. The launch of the solid-state transformer based on SiC technology is the latest extension and achievement of this layout. UNIC: SST Products Adopt SiC
