Deepening Roots in Automotive and Industrial Markets, Strategically Focusing on Robotics and Data Centers
With over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Allegro has long been deeply engaged in the automotive and industrial markets. According to the briefing, by end market, approximately 70% of Allegro's current sales come from the automotive sector, and 30% from industrial and other fields. In the automotive business, xEV (New Energy Vehicles) and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are the core growth engines; in the industrial field, AI data centers and robotics have been established as two strategic priorities.

Shaun Milano pointed out at the briefing that advancements in AI computing and robotics technologies are reshaping the industry landscape and significantly enhancing Allegro's opportunities in terms of value per unit. Taking data centers as an example, as the power consumption of AI racks surges from 10-15kW for traditional racks to 50kW-1MW, the demand for efficient power supply and thermal management rises sharply. This directly drives the market space for Allegro's related products—the SAM (Serviceable Addressable Market) per rack grows from less than $150 for traditional solutions to over $425. With the large-scale deployment of AI computing power, Allegro's overall market opportunity in this field will witness explosive growth of 10 to even 30 times.
Robotics: Comprehensive Coverage of Sensing and Driving from Industrial Robotic Arms to Humanoid Joints
In the robotics field, Allegro divides the market into three major categories: industrial robots, service robots (including humanoid robots, AMRs, and AGVs), and household robots, estimating the overall robotics market opportunity to exceed $1.4 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 30%. At the briefing, Allegro highlighted its full-stack technological capabilities in robot joint actuators, covering three core product lines: position sensors, current sensors, and DC motor drivers along with gate drivers.

Regarding position sensors, Allegro offers inductive position sensors with up to 18-bit resolution, supporting precise control of robot actuators. To meet the different needs of large and small joints, Allegro can provide both micro TMR sensors and inductive sensors with Stray Field Immunity (SFI). Notably, Allegro's 48V driver platform is fully ready, and its unique CMOS process can withstand voltage surges up to 100V. Compared to the tolerance of only about 70V for competing products, this provides a solid guarantee for the reliable operation of robots in complex dynamic environments.
Focusing on Industry Hotspots: Full Analysis of Humanoid Robots, Data Centers, and More
During the interview session following the briefing, Shaun Milano and EEFOCUS had an in-depth exchange on several topics of greatest current industry concern.
Regarding the motion control and fluidity of humanoid robots, he pointed out that the fluidity of robot movements depends on the response speed and precision of the entire control loop. Relying on ultra-low latency sensing technology and efficient motor drive solutions, Allegro can provide solid support for the real-time execution of complex algorithms such as Field Oriented Control (FOC). As sensor precision and drive response speeds steadily improve, the smoothness and autonomy of robot movements will be significantly enhanced. Allegro is working with relevant customers to continuously optimize the overall solution at the system level.
When discussing the coordination with main control chips, EEFOCUS asked about Allegro's role positioning in the overall solution. Shaun Milano explained that Allegro does not provide "brain" chips like MCUs (Microcontroller Units), but possesses a complete technological layout at the "sensing and execution" level of sensors and drivers. He specifically added that Allegro's driver chips have already integrated some intelligent control functions, which can share the computing burden of the main control chip at the local execution level, thereby making the entire system run more efficiently. This differentiated positioning enables Allegro to seamlessly integrate with mainstream global MCU platforms, providing customers with flexible and efficient solution options.
Addressing the rapidly heating consumer robotics market, such as AI toys, Shaun Milano candidly shared his views. He believes that Allegro is fully capable of entering this field from a technical perspective, but the company's core value proposition has always focused on high reliability and high safety, which differs from the consumer products' pursuit of ultimate cost reduction. Therefore, Allegro places its strategic focus on markets with higher requirements for performance and reliability, such as industrial robots, service robots, and humanoid robots, where it can truly leverage the advantages of its over 30 years of automotive-grade technology accumulation.
In the AI data center field, EEFOCUS paid special attention to Allegro's participation in the entire power supply and thermal management chain. Shaun Milano stated that Allegro's products cover the complete link from the mains inlet to CPU power supply. Isolated gate drivers are widely used to drive SiC and GaN devices, helping data centers achieve efficient power conversion under 800V high-voltage platforms; high-bandwidth current sensors provide the system with real-time fault detection and protection; in terms of thermal management, Allegro's fan driver solutions have already secured a leading share in the global data center market. When discussing the technological route debate between air cooling and liquid cooling, Shaun Milano pointed out that these two technologies are not substitutes. As rack power consumption leaps from 100kW to the 1MW level, air cooling and liquid cooling will coexist and complement each other for a long time. Allegro is fully prepared for both technological routes.
Regarding the cross-scenario adaptability of the 48V drive solution, EEFOCUS asked whether this technology could simultaneously support different applications such as robotics and wind power. Shaun Milano introduced that Allegro has launched a complete portfolio of 48V motor driver products. The technology platform is highly scalable, but specific models for different application scenarios will feature targeted designs in terms of interface definitions and functional safety levels. He emphasized that regardless of how application scenarios change, high efficiency, safety, and reliability remain the three core principles of Allegro's product design.
Finally, EEFOCUS invited Shaun Milano to share his judgment on the commercialization prospects of humanoid robots. Shaun Milano believes that in the short term, the application scenarios with the clearest returns are concentrated in operations in hazardous environments, such as chemical plant inspections and automotive painting. In these scenarios, robots do not even need to have a humanoid form; fixed stations can create significant safety and efficiency value. Looking to the long term, scenarios such as home care and medical assistance are equally full of imagination. Citing his personal experience of his children working as nurses, he pointed out that medication precision is crucial in medical scenarios, and robots have a natural advantage in such tasks. In his view, the form of the robot is not the key; the core lies in whether it can truly solve practical problems and create quantifiable value for society.
