Aikow Finishes IPO Counseling Acceptance; Carves Niche as Mainland’s Top Shipper of Non-mobile Data Transmission Wi-Fi Chips

by shishuoxinyu·September 20, 2026

On September 16, 2026, the CSRC website disclosed that Aikow Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has completed its IPO counseling and listing preparation. Its counseling status has been updated to 'Counseling Acceptance,' with CITIC Construction Investment Securities as the sponsoring institution. From the filing initiation on January 17, 2026, to the acceptance completion in September, this wireless chip design company, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Zhangjiang, has completed the most critical leg of its journey prior to the IPO.

Aikow positions itself as the No. 1 mainland China vendor in terms of shipment volume in the data transmission Wi-Fi field, excluding mobile phones. This statement is the key to understanding the company and the track behind it.

| A Carefully Designed Market Definition

When most people talk about Wi-Fi chips, they think of routers, laptops, and mobile phones. However, the actual segmentation within the industry is much more granular. By function, Wi-Fi chips are divided into Station and AP; the Station category is further split into IoT Wi-Fi MCUs (Microcontroller Units) for command transmission and data transmission Wi-Fi for data transmission. The barriers to entry escalate step by step.

The key point is: Wi-Fi in mobile phones has never been an independent business. It is bundled within the main SoCs (Systems on Chip) from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and HiSilicon, leaving almost no opportunity for domestic independent chip companies to intervene. Therefore, Aikow places 'excluding mobile phones' at the very beginning of its positioning. This is not modesty, but smart strategy—it not only avoids direct collision with mobile phone SoC giants but also sidesteps the IoT Wi-Fi MCU battlefield where Espressif and Beken Corporation have already turned the market into a red ocean (the two combined hold approximately an 80% market share).

A good positioning is equivalent to saying to investors in advance, 'Please don't compare me with them.' Aikow's 'excluding mobile phones + data transmission' essentially carves out a unique niche within a broad market concept.

| It's Not Just About Getting Connected

Why is data transmission Wi-Fi a tough nut to crack? Because it requires handling not just connectivity, but high throughput, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, dual-band concurrency, and automotive-grade reliability. IoT MCUs like those from Espressif can thrive with 2.4G Wi-Fi 4; however, data transmission chips must scale from 1x1 single-band all the way to 2x2 dual-band 80MHz, and even integrate PA/LNA into a single 22nm chip to lower the BOM (Bill of Materials) cost.

Aikow's hard currency is: in 2021, it mass-produced the AIC8000, making it one of the earliest domestic enterprises to mass-produce Wi-Fi 6, and it developed the first domestic Wi-Fi 6 chip certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Even more scarce is the fact that it is the only domestic data transmission Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip that has simultaneously passed Microsoft WHQL certification and AEC-Q100 automotive-grade certification. These two certifications—one determining entry into the PC/laptop supply chain, the other determining eligibility for automotive applications—are the products of trading time for barriers. Latecomers cannot simply make up for this by throwing money at it.

| Where Does the Demand Come From, and Where is the Ceiling?

The demand for data transmission Wi-Fi does not emerge out of thin air; it is embedded in several types of terminals that are the most bandwidth-hungry. Based on the disclosed partner structure, the typical customers in this track can be roughly divided into several categories—

Smart Security / IPC (IP Camera): The wireless backhaul of network cameras has a rigid demand for data transmission chips. This is the earliest and most stable basic market for the large-scale adoption of domestic chips;

TV and Smart Displays: Corresponding to the annual shipment of over 100 million TV sets, this is the most mainstream market for 2.4/5GHz data transmission chips;

Network Communication Equipment (CPE / MiFi / Gateways): These have the highest requirements for 2x2 MIMO and PCIe high-speed interfaces, representing high-concurrency, high-throughput pan-router scenarios;

PC and Tablet / Laptop: The customer group with the highest average price and entry barriers—requiring Microsoft WHQL certification and a long introduction cycle, but once entered, the stickiness is extremely strong;

Smart Automotive: The customer group with the largest incremental growth and highest barriers. Crossing the AEC-Q100 automotive-grade threshold is mandatory for entry into OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) pre-installation;

Internet and Ecosystem Players: They are both terminal brands and ecosystem entry points. Often, customers are also shareholders, forming downstream endorsement and capital binding.

Viewed this way, the customer structure of data transmission Wi-Fi presents a梯队 (echelon) where mature scenarios provide a foundation, while automotive and PC segments raise the ceiling. IPC, TV, and CPE support current cash flow, while automotive and laptops determine the valuation ceiling. The real proposition has never been about how many suppliers are crowded in the track, but whether these customers are willing to shift critical connectivity away from international giants.

| Aikow's Moat

What is least easily replicated for Aikow are two certifications and one market:

WHQL certification provides it with the ticket to enter the PC/laptop supply chain—a market long dominated by Realtek and Intel. Domestic adoption still takes time, but it is one of the few players that has already secured the ticket;

AEC-Q100 automotive-grade certification elevates it from a consumer electronics supplier to an optional choice for pre-installation, having already landed in Dongfeng, FAW, and Chery. In the incremental growth of smart cockpits and in-vehicle communication, automotive-grade certification is a hard filter;

The industrial closed loop where customers are also shareholders: Xiaomi, ZTE, and Allwinner are both customers and shareholders. This downstream endorsement + capital binding is the most realistic shortcut for volume growth for domestic chips.

The significance of automotive-grade certification lies not in how much revenue it contributes today, but in transforming Aikow from a replaceable white-label supplier into a qualified supplier that is hard to replace once introduced. In the chip industry, not being replaced is more valuable than being selected.

| Edge AI is an Option

A report in August 2026 placed Aikow in the narrative of the 'last few meters' of edge AI: drones, handheld imaging, 3D printing, robots, and embodied intelligence all have a strong demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency wireless transmission. Data transmission Wi-Fi is evolving from a networking tool into core infrastructure for the AI era.

For Aikow, AI terminals are currently about keeping up, not leading. The company's real revenue base remains mature scenarios such as IPC, TV, CPE/MiFi, OTT, and tablets. AI terminals are a call option in its hands—the direction is correct and the imagination space is large, but the realization pace depends on the explosion of downstream hardware forms, not solely on the efforts of the chip company.

| A Small but Hard Track

The most important sentence to say: data transmission Wi-Fi (excluding mobile phones) is not a hundred-billion-dollar track; it is a small but hard track. Industry estimates suggest that the data transmission Wi-Fi Station market that domestic Wi-Fi startups can truly reach is currently about CNY 1.476 billion. Broken down, this includes approximately 1.2 million IPCs, 1.5 million TVs,4 million CPE/MiFi units, and 1 million IoT units, totaling about 410 million units with an average price of USD 0.5. The cake is limited, and the real value lies in positioning and irreplaceability, not in grand narratives.

Even more critical is the external disruption in 2026: AI servers are devouring DRAM/NAND capacity like a black hole, and NOR Flash and PSRAM are also tightening. Storage price increases will last at least until 2028. The most impacted are mobile phones, PCs, tablets, and OTT—in 2026, smartphone Wi-Fi-related shipments will drop by 14% YoY, PCs by 9%, tablets by 12%, and OTT by 10%. Conversely, industrial IoT and Wi-Fi cameras, which use less memory, will see growth of +8% to +14%. This is a double-edged sword for domestic manufacturers focusing on mid-to-low-end data transmission: low-end IoT delays upgrades due to the迟迟 (delayed) Wi-Fi 6 patent costs (possibly dragging until the patents expire in 2030), which in turn delays the affordable landing of high-end technologies; however, the counter-cyclical growth in industrial, automotive, and security sectors happens to be the areas where Aikow has the deepest positioning.

The industry script has never been about 'who reaches a hundred billion first,' but rather 'who builds an insurmountable moat in the last few meters first.'
