Given the explosive growth of AI computing power, the optical fiber and cable industry is ushering in a new cycle of prosperity. IDC predicts that by 2026, domestic intelligent computing power will reach 1,460.3 EFLOPS, double that of 2024. According to industrial estimates by the CAICT (China Academy of Information and Communications Technology), as of June 2026, the domestic nominal intelligent computing power has reached 2,185 EFLOPS, with the implementation progress of computing power significantly ahead of previous expectations.
Faced with the urgent task of intelligent computing interconnection, companies in the industrial chain have begun to output systematic solutions. Looking back at this year's CIOE (China International Optoelectronic Exposition), YOFC released the "White Paper on Optical Interconnection for Intelligent Computing Centers" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper") at the YOFC iCONEC Intelligent Computing Center Technology Forum. It comprehensively demonstrates end-to-end full-stack products and engineering implementation capabilities, ranging from optical fibers and cables to high-speed active interconnection devices and structured cabling systems, providing a complete reference blueprint for the planning, construction, and operation and maintenance of ultra-large-scale intelligent computing centers in China.
Optical Fibers and Cables: The "Strategic Materials" in the Intelligent Computing Era
All high-speed interconnections in intelligent computing clusters are fundamentally rooted in optical fibers. In the stringent environment of 100,000-GPU clusters, ordinary communication optical cables can no longer meet the special requirements for low loss and high density. YOFC's competitive advantage is first reflected at the optical fiber base material level. In the first half of 2026, YOFC achieved a revenue of CNY 9.81 billion, a year-on-year increase of 53.6%. Among them, the revenue from the optical transmission products segment was CNY 6.13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 59.2%. Focusing on intelligent computing interconnection, YOFC's new optical fibers are accelerating their transition from the laboratory to large-scale commercialization.
G.654.E optical fiber is known as the golden medium for cross-domain long-distance 400G/800G and even 1.6T ultra-high-speed transmission of AI computing power. YOFC has invested in its R&D since 2010. After more than a decade of refinement, its technology is globally leading, and its shipment volume ranks first in the world. With a scaled deployment of over 8 million fiber-kilometers, it maintains a steady top position in the Chinese market share and has been widely applied in projects for the three major telecom operators, the State Grid, and backbone networks in multiple countries.
Hollow-core optical fiber is a disruptive technology representing the future of optical communication. Unlike traditional solid-core optical fibers, light transmission in hollow-core fibers occurs within a hollow structure. Currently, YOFC possesses full in-house R&D capabilities for all key raw materials. The single-fiber drawing length has exceeded 91 kilometers, both of which are at the global leading level. The transmission latency is reduced by about 31% compared to traditional fibers, and the attenuation coefficient reaches 0.032 dB/km, setting a new global record for transmission loss. At present, YOFC has assisted the three major telecom operators in launching the first commercial line, with a commercial deployment of over 10,000 kilometers.
Multi-core optical fiber targets high-density interconnection within intelligent computing centers. Compared with traditional single-mode fibers, multi-core fibers can achieve several times the capacity increase within the same cable diameter, significantly reducing the volume and weight of optical cables. In the interconnection of intelligent computing centers, it can significantly alleviate the pressure on machine room space and operation and maintenance. In submarine transmission, it can greatly enhance submarine cable capacity and reduce the cost per bit.
Optical Interconnection Components Provide Key Support for Intelligent Computing Networks
Optical modules are a key link in the entire chain of intelligent computing centers. YOFC has completed its relevant product layout through the optical interconnection components business and currently possesses a rich product portfolio ranging from passive to active, from low-speed to high-speed, and from chips to modules. In the first half of 2026, the revenue of YOFC's optical interconnection components segment reached CNY 2.238 billion, a year-on-year increase of 55.0%, with a gross profit margin of 48.97%.
Relying on the device capabilities of the optical interconnection components business, YOFC has supplemented its active high-speed interconnection sector, covering the complete technical spectrum of traditional pluggable optical modules, LPO linear drive, NPO/CPO near-packaged optics, and AOC/AEC/ACC active cables, to meet the different requirements for speed, distance, and power consumption in intelligent computing Scale-Up/Scale-Out.
Specifically, for the Scale-Out backbone network of AI clusters, YOFC has achieved mass supply of the 800G series pluggable optical modules and completed the selection and design of the 1.6T series solutions. It is now promoting sample iteration and system verification, opening up a smooth upgrade path from 800G to 1.6T, and reserving bandwidth upgrade space for 100,000-GPU or even million-GPU clusters.
Facing the next-generation interconnection architecture with low power consumption and high density, YOFC continues to advance the R&D of LPO linear-drive optical engines and NPO near-packaged optical solutions, while simultaneously deploying the CPO co-packaged optics technology route, matching the two mainstream AI computing power construction paradigms: Scale-Up super nodes and Scale-Out distributed clusters.
Addressing the pain points of high power consumption and limited port density of optical modules in 10,000-GPU clusters, YOFC takes LPO linear-drive pluggable optical modules and CPO/NPO near-packaged optics as core breakthrough directions, providing a key path to break through the bottlenecks of energy efficiency and density in ultra-high-speed interconnection.
The "Last Meter" of Intelligent Computing Centers
In intelligent computing centers, GPUs, switches, and optical modules attract much attention, while structured cabling is often underestimated. However, cabling is the "digital lifeline" of computing clusters—improper design, construction, and component selection can all become hidden bottlenecks for computing power release. YOFC's iCONEC intelligent computing cabling system fully covers connectors, various pre-terminated links, MPO polarity management, and Shuffle multi-plane network components, providing full-link cabling support from the backbone to the access for intelligent computing centers.
Facing the high-speed interconnection needs of next-generation GPU clusters, iCONEC has launched an end-to-end high-density optical fiber cabling overall solution. This solution adopts a high-density patching system and a flexible modular architecture, compatible with the mixed insertion of multi-specification optical modules. It can not only flexibly adapt to the networking architectures of different computing clusters but also support the smooth upgrade of 400G and 800G to 1.6T bandwidth. Compared with traditional solutions, the machine room space utilization rate is increased by more than 50%.
It is understood that the Openpel patching system has been deployed at scale in multiple major projects. At this year's WAIC (World Artificial Intelligence Conference) and OFC (Optical Fiber Communication Conference), the iCONEC high-density cabling solution and 1.6T optical modules were showcased together, becoming a key part of YOFC's efforts to build a "high-density, low-latency" intelligent computing foundation.
Based on the era's opportunity of rapid iteration in the AI computing power industry, YOFC's technological breakthroughs, product layout, and engineering implementation are all in-depth promotions of its core "AI-2030" strategy. Facing ultra-large-scale intelligent computing, the answer provided by YOFC includes both vision and a clear path. The second half of the AI computing power competition is no longer just a single contest of computing chips, but also a competition of system capabilities in underlying optical interconnection—bandwidth, latency, density, and stability are all indispensable.
The capability of YOFC's full product line system is precisely the core confidence to traverse the traditional optical communication cycle and embrace the AI intelligent computing era. YOFC is also rewriting the story of a "leading optical fiber company" into the story of a "leader in AI optical connection infrastructure."
